INTERNATIONAL TEAMWORK

BUILDING AS A TEAM, WORKING FOR THE EMPEROR AND LIVING LIKE THE ROMANS - A CITY TOUR TRACING THE HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL TEAMWORK IN VIENNA

What a transformation! A magnificent ring road replaced the old, narrow city walls, and we still marvel at the splendor of the buildings today. It was also a transformation in the way people worked, because architects working together as a team were almost unheard of before! Anna Sacher introduced a new corporate culture at the hotel of the same name, located directly behind the opera house. A company health insurance fund? Had anyone ever seen anything like that before?
A special culture of cooperation prevailed at the imperial court, as we learn at the Hofburg. Jobs with the Habsburgs were highly sought after and very difficult to obtain. But surprisingly, it wasn't the salary that made them so attractive!
A very special spirit prevailed in the cathedral workshop during the construction of St. Stephen's Cathedral. We are amazed at how international the work on the cathedral was in the Middle Ages and still is today!
How do you best protect yourself in international trade? Through teamwork – the merchants of Vienna in the Middle Ages already knew this, as we can see at the Lugeck. Immediately afterwards, we follow in the footsteps of the Romans at the Hoher Markt and marvel at how successfully they spread their culture in areas far from home!
Finally, we head to the Danube Canal, where we encounter the brilliant architect Otto Wagner in several ways. He did not work alone either; his team was considered a particularly close-knit community!

Tour duration: 1.5 to 2 hours
